Meet "Hikari"

So I started playing the violin last October 27, 2012. I bought my violin at JB Music last October 19. Her name is "Hikari" which means "Light" in Japanese.

Why "Hikari"?

Well, during Zumba class (hahaha), our instructor played the song, "This Little Light of Mine" by Addison Road, for cool down and as I was listening to the lyrics, I was kind of inspired by it. Especially along the lines, "There's a little flame inside us all / Some shine bright / Some shine small / The rains will come / And the waters rise / But don't you ever lose your light" And the chorus, "This little light of mine / I'm gonna let it shine." And it somehow clicked! That no matter what happens in the future - If I may become good or if I would generally suck at Violin - I would still strive hard and do my best to play it not because of the people who will pressure/judge me to do better at it, but because I wholeheartedly love to do it!

So, guys, here she is! Meet Hikari :)

October 19, 2012
She's a 4/4 Full-sized Valeria violin in a dark blue casing... I recently had the first string changed since I tried tuning on my own and I snapped her first string! >.< Hahahaha~ Charged to experience!

I'm learning home-based right now with a flexible schedule since I can't find a stable time to leave the store to have my lessons. One of the things that I found (a little bit) regretful, is the fact that I didn't learn to play the violin earlier. I had always wanted to this back when I was in High School but my parents would always say that the lessons were much more expensive than any instrument and I have a sneaking suspicion that Dad isn't very much into the string instruments. Us, siblings, were always "pushed" (for a lack of better words) to play the piano... and while, yes, I do love to play the piano, I don't really "feel" the music every time I play.

Then again, ever since I started learning to play the violin, I've been using the piano more too. What with making it simpler to read the notes and sheet music, and all.

Still, the issue of age isn't gonna bring me down from learning to play! I still want to be able to play Kashou no Tsuki by Yuriko Nakamura, River Flows in You and Kiss the Rain by Yiruma, This Little Light of Mine by Addison Road (let's not forget this, of course ^_^), You and Me by Lifehouse, My Immortal by Evanescence, and so much more!! I still have a looooooonnnngggg way to go!!

But as I have always said... AJA!!!!!
