Learn Logs: 11-26-12

[Lesson 03: November 19, 2012]
  • Music Piece: May Song and Long, Long Ago.
  • Advanced Bowing with Scaling (Quarter, Half, Eighth Notes) with Vertical Finger Movement
  • Introduction to the D string
  • Introduction to Crescendo and Decrescendo practices
  • Assignment Music Piece(s): Perfect May Song and Long, Long Ago. Try to start with Allegro.
  • Assignment: Vertical Finger Movement (? I don't know if that's the right term XD)
Aha!! So we finally began using the D string. Even though it was only for a short time in the piece of Long, Long Ago, it was the start on bowing the right angle for the D string. Also, we had a lot of parts where the Crescendo and Decrescendo movements should be done perfectly.

More of the session now was of the practice on the proper bowing and intonation. X_X Great.

Learn Logs: 11-19-12

[Lesson 03: November 19, 2012]

  • Music Piece: Go Tell Aunt Rhody
  • Advanced Bowing with Scaling (Quarter, Half, Eighth Notes)
  • Assignment Music Piece: O Come Little Children
  • Assignment: Scaling (Sixteenth Note)
I have to say that I'm getting more and more nervous as more of our lessons go through. It gets harder and harder, and I'm trying to keep up and doing double time on practice. One thing I have to say though is that I have indeed improve especially on intonations. My right shoulder does not shake much anymore to the point that my song sounds like it's crying! XD hahahahaha~ Also, I'm getting excited as I add more music to my Music Piece Bucket List! The more I improve, the closer I am to be able to duet the songs with my sister on the piano!! :D yey!!

The Search

...for the shoulder rest has finally come to an end.

We went to Manila last week and I came inside a store named "Lyric" and found a shoulder rest there. It cost way too much (P1,300, about $31) so I decided to just leave it and look for another one in Cebu. I was able to finally find one at SM City Cebu, ASalonga since the rest of the stores don't have stocks for them. It cost P375 (About $9. I'm a cheapskate, so what? =P hahahaha~)

With this... Goodbye, stiff necks!! =D

Practice Logs: Song of the Wind

Since I won't be able to meet with my teacher until the next week, he gave a lot of assignments for the next meeting. I am to perfect all variations of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as well as memorize (and perfect) Lightly Row and Song of the Wind by the next meeting.

Okay, peace of cake! (NOT!!!)

Okay, well, the first two pieces are... but I am having a hard time with Song of the Wind. Particularly this part of the song:

It is when your first finger is prolonged on the E string while your third finger is moving about the A and E string, and letting go at the end, drawing simply on the open string.

I think this is only the part I have been frowning on for the past 3 days.

And while I still am practicing the other two pieces for perfection, I can't quite get this piece yet, even though Song of the Wind is the shortest piece among the three.

Gaaaaahhh~ X_X
